We had a very successful show at the Roller Derby halftime. Wonderful comments from the crowd afterward. My friends at Karmic Courage Productions are putting the final touches on a video of the event. Hopefully I'll be able to share clips of that video here. Until then, check out some of the photos they provided on the Show page.
May 13, 2009:
Just got the poster for my Strongman Show in June. Very Cool... I'm looking forward to this bout, Roller Derby is FUN to watch. It took me a few minutes to figure out what was going on, but after that Gabby, Will and I were cheering on our Circle City Socialites

Saturday was a great day for me. 1st I ran a mile (need to get that cardio back). Then I had a workout with 1988 Olympic Assistant Boxing Coach, Hank Johnson. This is the 3rd week in a row I've been blessed to train with Coach Hank and I can say he is amazing. I am excited about what I keep learning from Hank. While we were finishing up our boxing workout, I got a text from Matt Vaught, owner of the Iron Warrior Fight League and my Jiu Jitsu Coach / MMA trainer. His good friends, Dan & Kyria Christison, were up in Anderson and Dan wanted to do a kettlebell workout. For those of you not versed in MMA / UFC history. Dan is a UFC vet and was a cast member of 2nd season Ultimate Fighter show on Spike TV. Dan is also the ONLY person to put current UFC Heavyweight Champ, Frank Mir, in an armbar in competition. On top of all that, he is also one of the nicest, most complementary men I've met. It was an honor to get to workout with him. I must admit, I didn't realize the depth of his training knowledge with Kettlebells and everything else. I got several great ideas from him and I hope I get the honor of training with him again. After our workout, we got some pictures and Kyria Christison took some shots of us training in Matt's yard. It was a great day.

: Today, I received my 10" Shot Filled Globe Dumbbell from StrongerGrip (www.strongergrip.com). This is an amazing piece of equipment. I will be buying everything I can from Ryan Pitts @ Stronger Grip. Check out his site, he makes the most amazing equipment and he is a Professional Performing Strongman as well. You can see Ryan in the middle of the Strongman University Picture in my Aug 2008 entry (scroll down this page).

January 14, 2009: I finally got around to taking a video of a phone book tear. I was at work and thought it would be fun to tear a few phone books while I was taking a break from the computer. I had tore 3 books (sizes between 13/4" to 2"). After the last one, I asked my friend to record me tearing another 2" thick Indianapolis Phone book. A few months ago it took me 5 minutes to tear a book that big and I was exhausted afterwards. This video is 47 seconds long, only about 30 seconds of it is actually tearing. I'm very pleased by this. I've been working on phonebooks for a long time and it is paying off.
December 12, 2008: I had lunch today with Pastor Mark Ward from First Baptist Church in Tipton (www.fbctipton.org). I demonstrated a couple of my feats, because I'm always trying to find ways to honor the Lord with anything I can do. So I tore a deck of cards and twisted a horseshoe. Pastor Mark had some great ideas about ways those feats could be used to further God's word and that was a great thing for me. I gave Pastor Mark the cards and he asked me if I could tear them again. I haven't really worked on card tearing since this summer, when it started hurting my hands, so I figured I'd give it try. I had quartered a really cheap deck once but never one of the old casino decks that I use in shows. Well I guess the time off helped my hands, I was able to quarter it. I was so excited that I told a friend of mine who said he wanted to see a picture. I gave the deck to Pastor Mark, so I did another deck back at my office. Here is the picture.
December 11, 2008: Merry Christmas! Not a lot has been going on since the fight. I've been working on tearing Phone Books longways, like Dennis taught me. I have confirmed that Dennis Rogers will be back at Beck's Hybrids' Field Show August of 2009. If you have never seen a Grandmaster Strongman perform you owe it to yourself to attend.
November 3, 2008: I am very proud of Kevin Barkdull who's Pro MMA record is now 1-0 as he beat Jason Bott in 2nd Round by RNC. I was Kevin's S&C coach and I worked corner. Kevin is a hard worker and I am honored to be part of his team. Tamara did his nutrition to get him from 205+ to 185 (in about a month) for his fight without losing strength. Not an easy task, but there is no one better at fight nutrition than Tamara.
Sept 24, 2008: William and I recorded me bending a 1/2 x 30".
Sept 11, 2008: My daughters got in on the scrolling act today.
Alex scrolled a 3/8 x 4 and Gabby easily fished a 1/4 x 4.
I am very proud of all my kids, they've worked hard and done a good job.
Sept 10, 2008: Big Day today!!! My sons, William and Clark, scrolled some 1/4 x 3' steel. I am very proud of them.

AUGUST 2008
It has been a busy summer. Late July, I had 3 different Strongman shows on the same weekend. Then after a brief rest, it was down to Houston for the 1st OldeTime Strongman University Seminar
(F.R., left to right) Gavin Rulon, Aaron “Mighty Mac” McKenzie, Dennis Rogers, Ryan Pitts, Michael Gillette, Greg Matonick, Chris Rider. (B.R., left to right) Logan Christopher, Raliegh Barrett, John McGrath, Mike “The Machine” Bruce, Tyler Bramlett, Tim Fox. Missing, Instructors Pat Povilaitis and Brian Brushwood.
Then I had about 10 days to recover before Dennis Rogers, Pat Povilaitis and Mike Bruce were in Indiana for the Beck's Hybrids' Field Days. Dennis & Pat performed 9 shows in 3 days. Mike "the Machine" Bruce came up for the Saturday shows and was a huge hit with the Beck's crowd.

Mike Bruce & Pat Povilaitis squaring off. We called this "Clash of the Titans" .
I got in on the act as well, warming up the crowd for Dennis by performing a Bent Press with my 88lbs Kettlebell.
After a few days rest, I decided to ramp up my strongman training.
I put a little bend in this wrench during my lunch break on 8-28-08.
